Kerrie Mather, Chief Executive Officer, Macquarie Airports, Young Business Forum Reception, 5 November 2008
Young Business Forum
Kerrie Mather addressed the Chamber's Young Business Forum reception in Sydney on the topic of “Building a sustainable Airport model for the 21st Century”. This event was kindly partnered by Clayton Utz and Vodafone.
Kerrie Mather, CEO Macquarie Airports (MAp), is an inspirational leader and one of only 4 female CEOs running companies in the ASX top 200.
Macquarie Airports is now one of the world’s largest strategic airport investors with interests in Sydney, Brussels, Copenhagen, Bristol, Newcastle, Japan and Mexico, and announced solid operating results across the airport portfolio in the first half of 2008. However, softening economic conditions and a challenging economic environment, including the need to reduce carbon emissions, high oil prices, the delivery of new generation aircraft, the increasing dominance of low cost carriers and the continued liberalisation of air rights, will provide significant challenges and opportunities for the airport model in the 21st Century.
Kerrie Mather has been the Chief Executive Officer of Macquarie Airports since it listed on the ASX with a market capitalisation of $1 billion in April 2002. Today, Macquarie Airports is a top 50 company in Australia with a market capitalisation of approximately $5 billion and over 35,000 investors, including some of the world’s largest pension funds.
