Dr Michael Schaper, Deputy Chair, ACCC, 13 November 2008
Dr Michael Schaper addressed a private boardroom lunch for 20 CEO's of the Chamber's Business Club companies in Sydney on the topic of “Small Business, An Enterprise Culture and the ACCC”. This event was kindly hosted by NAB.
Australia's small and medium-sized businesses are a vital part of our economy, and today there are almost 2 million such firms operating across the nation. Building a culture of effective competition and enterprise is a key way to support small firms, and the ACCC has a central role to play in such developments through its oversight of the Trade Practices Act and competition law.
Dr Michael Schaper was appointed a Deputy Chair of the ACCC in July 2008 for a period of five years. He is a previous President of the Small Enterprise Association of Australia and New Zealand, a past member of the board of directors of the International Council for Small Business, and previously ACT Small Business Commissioner.
