Colin Storrie addressed a private boardroom lunch for 18 CFO’s from our Sponsors and Gold Club members on the topic of “Challenges facing QANTAS in today’s global financial crisis”. This event was generously hosted by Ernst & Young and Message Stick.
Faced with the biggest global financial market turmoil since 1929, Australia’s economy is being tested. And the aviation sector is under particular stress with issues of carbon reduction, new generation planes, falling passenger numbers, high fuel prices, and pressure to merge airlines predominating.
Qantas is ranked in the top 50 listed Australian companies by capitalisation, has a turnover of approximately $12 billion and is the tenth largest airline in the world.
Colin Storrie was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Qantas and to the Qantas Board in September 2008 having held a number of other senior positions at QANTAS and roles within investment banking and the NSW Government.
