The Hon Dr Craig Emerson MP addressed a private boardroom lunch for 23 of the Chamber’s Small and Medium Business members where he discussed the “Challenges and Opportunities facing Small to Medium Enterprises”. This event was generously hosted by Mallesons Stephen Jaques.
HOW DOES GOVERNMENT CREATE the economic conditions where small businesses can not only survive, but thrive and expand?
THIS IS DR EMERSON’S MISSION in his role as Minister for Small Business, Independent Contractors and the Service Economy, and Minister Assisting the Finance Minister on Deregulation in the Rudd Government.
Adding to his responsibilities Prime Minister Kevin Rudd appointed Dr Emerson as Minister for Competition and Consumer Affairs in June 2009.
Professionally, Dr Emerson has held senior appointments in the public sector and as an economic adviser. He has also run a small business in a partnership, so has experience in what makes business tick.
