Almost 200 young professionals in the 20-35 year old demographic attended the Young Business Forum where Ralph Norris, Chief Executive Officer, Commonwealth Bank of Australia discussed “Australian Banking : a changing landscape” at the Sofitel Wentworth Sydney. This event was proudly hosted by IBM and Accor Asia Pacific.
Managing a business in today’s economic environment is no easy feat, especially where it has more than 700,000 shareholders, over 40,000 employees, a market capitalisation of approx $87 billion… and is in the financial services sector with the largest domestic customer base of the major banks, the largest issuer of credit cards, the largest provider of home loans, and the largest domestic funds manager!
This is the task for Ralph Norris who joined the Commonwealth Bank as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer on 23 September 2005. He has a distinguished 30-year career in banking and has twice been honoured as New Zealand's Executive of the Year. Ralph is Chairman of the Australian Bankers’ Association and a Director of the Business Council of Australia.
