Young Business Forum
More than 200 young professionals in the 20-35 year old demographic attended the Young Business Forum where Terry Davis, Group Managing Director, Coca-Cola Amatil discussed “Surviving & Thriving in Taxing Times – Leadership vs Administration” which was moderated by Ky Chow, Sky Business News. This event was proudly hosted by Industry & Investment NSW.
Coca Cola is one of the world’s top 5 brands worth a staggering $68 billion or so and at 123 years old, it shows no sign of relenting.
Yet what keeps a brand like Coke relevant to changing demographics and how has the Australian bottler franchisee of Coke, Coca Cola Amatil, broadened its offering to include new products?
Terry Davis joined Coca-Cola Amatil (CCA) as Group Managing Director in November 2001. In the period under Mr Davis’s leadership, CCA has transformed its earnings base by developing from a carbonated beverage company into a more broader based beverage and food company with a portfolio that includes springwater, fruit juices, coffee and, flavoured milk, SPC Ardmona packaged ready-to-eat fruit and vegetable products and premium alcoholic beverages through a joint venture with one of the world’s largest brewers, SABMiller.
Mr Davis’s change agenda for CCA has centred on making customer service excellence a key differentiator to its competition.
Mr Davis came to CCA after 14 years in the global wine industry, including managing director of the Foster’s owned Beringer Blass Wines, which became under his leadership, the largest (by profit) table wine company in the world. He was formerly managing director of Cellarmaster Wines, which become the largest direct marketer of wine in the world. Mr Davis was awarded Australian Direct Marketer of the Year in 1995.
CCA was awarded ‘International Bottler of the Year 2008’ by Beverage World magazine and is consistently recognised as one of the most successful bottlers in the global Coca-Cola system.
