Philip Noonan, Director General, IP Australia, 29 October 2010
Philip Noonan addressed a private boardroom lunch for 21 of the Chamber’s Small and Medium Business members where he discussed the intellectual property system, both domestically and internationally. This event was generously hosted by Thomsons Lawyers.
While the quote is probably an urban legend, in a world where innovation sets apart the leading countries from the also-rans, many say that the intellectual property system is getting in the way of innovation. What is the truth to these claims and what can we do about them?
Philip Noonan is the Director General of IP Australia, the Australian Government agency which administers the legislation relating to patents, trademarks, designs and plant breeders rights. IP Australia's role is to provide a strong intellectual property system which promotes innovation, investment and trade.
