Paul McClintock AO and The Hon Warwick Smith AM addressed a Boardroom event for 70 senior business executives in discussion with Narelle Hooper, Editor, AFR BOSS Magazine, on the topic of “governments’ progress in delivering a seamless national economy”. The role of the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) is to initiate, develop and monitor the implementation of policy reforms that are of national significance, and which require cooperative action by the Commonwealth, State and Territory governments.
The National Partnership Agreement to Deliver a Seamless National Economy is a critical part of COAG’s reform agenda to drive productivity growth. The agreement is about better regulation across the country, reducing business compliance costs, and increasing competition in Australia.
The COAG Reform Council reports to COAG annually on the progress against milestones in this National Partnership.
Paul McClintock is Chairman of the COAG Reform Council, Medibank Private Limited, Thales Australia and the Institute of Virology. He is also a Director of Perpetual Limited.
The Hon Warwick Smith AM is Chairman NSW & ACT for ANZ. In addition, Warwick is also the Chairman of the Advisory Board of Australian Capital Equity Group which has the controlling interest in the Seven Network, and he’s Chairman of E*TRADE. Warwick has also served as a Federal Government Minister in a Parliamentary career spanning 15 years.
