Paul Bloxham, Chief Economist (Australia & New Zealand) HSBC, 4 August 2011
DeloitteSME Growth Forum
Paul Bloxham addressed this SME reception with 60 executives where he was engaged in discussion on 'Australia's Place in the World'.
As business people we are influenced by our local and offshore markets. In Australia, what can we expect over the coming months that will impact our businesses and households? Unfortunately, there is some negative sentiment in today’s press across a number of key economic indicators. Trade relations with China are ever more important and growing, India is an emerging powerhouse and the US and Europe have their difficulties – who better to offer an insight than one of the world’s largest banks, HSBC.
Paul Bloxham joined HSBC in late 2010 as Chief Economist for Australia and New Zealand. Prior to this, Paul spent 12 years working as an economist at the Reserve Bank of Australia, where he held a range of roles in the Economic Analysis Department. These included heading up the overseas economies and financial conditions sections, and working in the domestic forecasting and prices areas.
Our inaugural Deloitte SME Growth Forum continued the Chamber’s mission that promotes “inspiring leadership”. Our generous event host and Principal Partner, Gerhard Vorster, Chief Strategy Officer, Deloitte emphasised the importance to business of individual power and collective action – the importance that Deloitte’s people place on equipping leaders with the tools to inspire and engage people to achieve a common cause. You will be inspired by Deloitte’s As One approach to collective leadership - www.asone.org
