Dr Megan Clark, Chief Executive, CSIRO, Tuesday 19 February 2013
Dr Megan Clark addressed a private boardroom event for 20 senior business executives where she discussed “Megatrends that will change the way we live and how Australia can respond”. This CEO Boardroom lunch was proudly sponsored by UGL Limited.
Dr Megan Clark has been the Chief Executive of CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific & Industrial Research Organisation) since January 2009 - Australia’s national science agency and one of the top 10 applied research organisations in the world. CSIRO is a mission-directed, multidisciplinary research and development organisation.
Dr Clark is currently on Chair of the Mining for Development Advisory Board for AusAid and a Principal in the Global Research Alliance which brings together nine global applied research peers to support inclusive innovation for the world’s most disadvantaged. She is on the Prime Minister’s Science, Industry and Engineering Council and a member of the Manufacturing Leaders Group. She is also a Commissioner on the International Commission on Sustainable Agriculture and Climate Change.
Dr Clark, with a BSc (Hons) and PhD from Queen’s University Canada, began her career as a mine geologist and subsequently worked in mineral exploration, mine geology, R&D management, venture capital and technical strategy areas with Western Mining Corporation. She then became Vice President Technology with BHP Billiton, followed by Vice President, Health, Safety, Environment, Community and Sustainability.
