Paul O'Sullivan, Director-General, ASIO, May 22, 2008
Paul O’Sullivan, Director-General of ASIO, addressed a private boardroom lunch in Sydney on the topic of “Threats to Business in the Current Security Environment”. This event was kindly hosted by Marsh.
ASIO's main role as the domestic counter-intelligence and security agency of Australia, is to gather information and produce intelligence that will enable it to warn the government about activities or situations that might endanger Australia's national security be it from espionage, sabotage, politically motivated violence, the promotion of communal violence, attacks on Australia's defence system, and acts of foreign interference.
In particular, there are various areas of potential risk to the private sector that may require prudent management by business. Click here to see Mr O’Sullivan’s address.
Mr O’Sullivan was a Senior Adviser (International) to Prime Minister Howard; Deputy Secretary at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Ambassador to Germany, Switzerland and Liechtenstein; and Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission at Australia’s largest overseas mission in Washington.
