Richard Gibbs, Chief Economist and Head of Economics, Macquarie Group, Wednesday 28 August 2013
Richard Gibbs addressed a private after-hours event for 57 business executives where he discussed “Australia in the Asian Region – An Economic Perspective”. This private theatre style event was proudly sponsored by Clifford Chance.
Over the past 20 years, Australia has become economically linked to a number of the powerhouse economies of Asia. This can be contributed to China’s significant awakening, Australia’s geographic location and partly due to the stalling of much of the traditional, Western world. Richard gave us his insights into Australia’s standing as an economic pillar and how the influences of our region may change our economy and how we do business.
Richard has worked for Macquarie Group for 19 years and is responsible for the formulation and presentation of the Group’s forecasts for Australia, New Zealand, Asia and the major industrial economies.
Richard provides briefings to the Australia-China Business Council and commentary on economic and business developments for CNN, CNBC Asia and BBC World. Richard also acts as Consultant Chief Economist to the Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank.
