David Roseman, Executive Director, Investment Banking Group, Global Head of Infrastructure Utilities and Renewables, Macquarie Capital addressed a private CEO Boardroom Lunch for 28 senior business executives in an interactive discussion on the topic; “Current trends in infrastructure in Australia and Globally”. David is currently the global head of the infrastructure, utilities and renewable advisory business which is part of Macquarie Capital. This area covers a range of sectors such as utilities, energy (including renewables), roads, airports, water, ports, rail, telecommunications and social infrastructure. This group is a global leader and has operations in over 40 global locations. The group advised on transactions of over $35 billion last year and is ranked number 1 in global corporate finance in the mining & minerals, telecoms and water sector, and in the top 3 of global corporate finance in the renewable sector.
The group also works closely with the Macquarie Infrastructure Fund division which is a full-service asset manager, offering a diverse range of capabilities and products including infrastructure and real asset management, securities investment management and structured access to funds, equity-based products and alternative assets. The group had $A343 billion in assets under management as at 31 March 2013.
Macquarie Funds Group has been managing assets for pension funds, institutions and retail investors since 1980 in Australia and 1929 in the US (through Delaware Investments). MFG has global reach, with a team of over 1,400 staff located in over 20 countries including Australia, Asia, the UK, Europe and the US.
David has been ultimately responsible for a number of significant bids such as Sydney Western Orbital (M7), BrisConnections in Queensland, ConnectEast in Victoria, Chicago Skyway and Indiana Toll Road in the US and the M6 Toll in the UK. Other significant bids include Sydney Airport in Australia, Thames Water in the UK, Puget Energy in the US and Taiwan Broadband Cable in Asia.
David joined Macquarie’s Project and Structured Finance Group in 1992. Prior to joining Macquarie David worked for a number of years in the Banking and Finance Group at law firm Mallesons.
