Non- Executive Director Dinner
Roger Corbett AO addressed a private Boardroom Dinner exclusively for Non-Executive Directors in Sydney on the topic of ‘Leading by Example – how Wal-Mart’s decision to reduce its carbon footprint has affected the supply chain.’ This event was kindly hosted by Russell Reynolds Associates.
Wal-Mart is the world's largest public corporation by revenue and largest private employer. Ten times the size of Woolworths, Wal-Mart is now one of the biggest logistics companies in the world, yet has very simple environmental goals: to be supplied 100 percent by renewable energy; to create zero waste; and to sell products that sustain its resources and the environment.
How does one do this and what impact does this have on employees, customers, suppliers, shareholders and the community?
There is no-one more qualified to share these insights with us than Roger Corbett AO, Director of Wal-Mart. He is the former CEO of Woolworths, a Director of the Reserve Bank of Australia, Fairfax Media Limited, and Chairman of the board of Directors of ALH Group. He is a member of the Prime Minister's Community Business Partnership and serves on the board of Outback Stores (a joint venture with the Australian government providing indigenous Australians in small outback communities with retail facilities), amongst many other positions he holds.
