A Business Lunch with Steven Marshall

Steven Marshall is the Leader of the State Liberal Party of South Australia.

Within three years of first being elected in 2010, he was elected in unopposed as Leader of the Party by his colleagues.

Steven Marshall led the Liberal team to election in 2013, but despite winning 53 per cent of the popular vote was unable to form government.

Steven graduated from the University of South Australia with a Bachelor of Business and Marketing and went on to complete an MBA at Durham University.

Immediately prior to entering Parliament, Steven was employed as the General Manager of the Textile Division of iconic South Australian wool exporter Michell Pty Ltd.
Steven is from a manufacturing background, having run his family’s furniture manufacturing business Marshall Furniture from 1997. At the time Steven became Managing Director, the business employed 200 people. Marshall Furniture was sold to Steinhoff Pacific in 2001, and Steven carried on as Managing Director for several years.

Throughout his time as Director of Marshall Furniture and Steinhoff Pacific, Steven worked in various board and executive positions for a range of South Australian companies, including as Chairman of Family Business Australia (SA Division)

Steven is currently an Ambassador for the Spastic Centres of South Australia (scosa), having previously served on the Board for 5 years. In 2001, Steven received a Centenary of Federation Medal for Services to the Disability Sector.

Steven is also a White Ribbon Ambassador to support the campaign to end violence against women.
