MAJOR BUSINESS LUNCH
Dr Martin Parkinson addressed a business lunch for 300 business executives where he was engaged in conversation with Lenore Taylor, National Affairs Correspondent, Sydney Morning Herald on “Challenges and opportunities facing the Australian Economy”. This Lunch was proudly sponsored by Ernst & Young.
The Treasury is uniquely positioned at the centre of Australia’s macroeconomic and structural policy debates. Dr Parkinson discussed some of the big medium term challenges and opportunities facing Australia.
Dr Martin Parkinson PSM, is Secretary, Department of Treasury. As Secretary Dr Parkinson is a member of the Board of the Reserve Bank of Australia, Chair of the Advisory Board of the Australian Office of Financial Management, member of the Board of Taxation, Infrastructure Australia, Council of Financial Regulators, Melbourne Institute Advisory Board, and the Centre for International Finance and Regulation Board.
Dr Parkinson previously served as Secretary of the Department of Climate Change and served 6 years as Deputy Secretary in Treasury with responsibility for domestic and international macroeconomic issues. Dr Parkinson has also previously worked at the International Monetary Fund on the reform of international financial architecture.
