Business Lunch

The Hon Julia Gillard MP, Gail Kelly, and Catherine Livingstone AO addressed a business lunch for 1000 business executives in discussion with Ross Greenwood, Business & Finance Editor, Nine Network on the topic of Leadership  what will be its key elements for the public, private and not-for-profit sectors if Australia is to remain a competitive and compassionate society?. Julia Gillard MP became Prime Minister in June 2010. From a working class background in a small Welsh village, Julia Gillard has built a well-respected career in the Federal Parliament following her election as the Member for Lalor in 1998 after a career as a lawyer, president of the Australian Union of Students and having held various positions within the Victorian branch of the ALP.

Gail Kelly's CV includes senior management roles at major banks in South Africa and Australia, most recently as CEO of St.George, and now as CEO of The Westpac Group. Yet it is her people skills that set her apart and is at the core of her task at The Westpac Group, which has around 37,000 employees serving approximately 10 million customers.

Catherine Livingstone AO joined Telstra as non-executive Director in November 2000 and was appointed Chairman on 8 May 2009. Catherine is also a Director of Macquarie Group Limited and WorleyParsons Ltd and was formerly Chairman of CSIRO and the Australian Business Foundation, as well as having been CEO of Cochlear Ltd from 1994-2000.
