University of Sydney-Israel Research Partnership Dinner, 31 October 2011

We were delighted to host a private dinner reception with Israel’s Deputy Chief of Mission to Australia, Mr. Meir Itzchaki, to honour a delegation of eight senior academic leaders from Israel, and they were:

We were also pleased to announce the winners of the prestigious SIR ZELMAN COWEN UNIVERSITIES FUND BLUE SKY RESEARCH GRANT which has been established to support scientific innovation and cooperative research between the University of Sydney and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

The winners:

• Prof Yehudit Bergman of the Hebrew of the University of Jerusalem and Prof Jacob George of the University of Sydney for their collaborative project entitled:

Identifying novel factors for improving liver regeneration in the elderly

and

• Prof John Rasko, Dr Janet Macpherson and Prof Tony Weiss of the University of Sydney and RPA Hospital for their collaboration with Prof Dan Gazit of the Hebrew of the University of Jerusalem for their project on tissue regeneration entitled:

Characterising a unique substrate for expansion and differentiation of mesenchymal stromal cells for use in regenerative medicine.
